Dr. Mary Lou Shaw

Mary Lou Shaw is a retired family practitioner who emphasized prevention when practicing medicine. She and her husband have restored a small farm and converted 40 acres to wetlands. They now grow most of the food they eat by nurturing a large vegetable garden, orchard, honey bees and heritage-breed animals. Mary Lou enjoys the continual learning curve of sustainable farming. She also enjoys teaching others how to grow their own food. She writes for Mother Earth News and Farming Magazine and is a frequent speaker for Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association (OEFFA). Her book, Growing Local Food, is sold through Carlisle Press.
